Khayyam remote sensing satellite was launched successfully from baikonur cosmodrome
On the morning of Tuesday, august 9, 2022, the Iranian remote sensing satellite called “Khayyam” belonging to the Iranian space agency(ISA) was launched from the baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan by a soyuz 2.1b rocket and successfully placed in orbit.
“Khayyam” provides earth observation datasets with a resolution of approximately one (1) meter.
These data will be produced using well-designed, accurate and precise sensors in various spectrums. Khayyam satellite-based data will be used for peaceful purposes, including agricultural land monitoring, water resources management, natural disaster management, mining exploration, natural resources.
The control and operation of Khayyam, which was developed in a jointly cooperation with Russian federation, will be carried out by Iranian experts based in ground stations in the territory of Iran.
